MY FITNESS CLASS: PART 2: EXERCISE {Fitness/Video of the Week}

{HOLD UP: before we talk about fitness and stuff…I HAVE to give a HUGE HUGE HUGE thanks to my photographers over at TRUEATELIER.COM! Not only are they beyond talented but they are some of the most wonderful, genuine ladies I know! I am truly blessed to have in my life!}
 Now that I’ve broken down the FOUNDATION of a fit lifestyle i.e. NUTRITION
…let’s jump right into the part that seems ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE when you are busy!
WORKOUT OUT
…WHEN THE CRAP AM I GOING TO WORK OUT????
It’s pretty easy for us to look at our list of things we have to get done and think, ‘I have NO TIME for a workout today!’
I used to use that excuses ALL THE TIME!!
It didn’t take me long to realize that excuses got me nowhere, so I started taking 30-60 minutes a night, out of my typical “kids are in bed so I’m going to sit here and veg all I want” routine and used it to workout instead!
I’ve shared this video before but I HAD to share it again for this blog post because it really gives you an insight into how busy I was and where I had to start!
It will help you realize that YES, you can do it as well!!!

Before I tell you all about what I do for my workouts, let’s talk about the WHY!!
WHY DO YOU WORKOUT??
*RELEASE ENDORPHINS: HAPPINESS
*PREVENTS CHRONIC DISEASES
*RELEASE ANGER IN A GOOD WAY
 *CHALLENGE YOURSELF
*HAVE ‘ME’ TIME
*SLEEP BETTER
*BE A BETTER YOU
So, now that we’ve established that it’s necessary to workout…when will you?
In the MORNING?
At NAP TIME?
At BEDTIME?
At 11 PM?
 Jeff and I have tried it all.
After years of juggling schedules and kids…we’ve realized that the only time that truly works for us is RIGHT AFTER we put our kids to bed!
Do we get to workout every night?…DEFINITELY NOT!
I’d be lying if I said I get out to my garage more then 3 times a week BUT I DO IT!
Sometimes I miss out on a girls night or an event happening or I don’t get something else checked off my list that day…but it’s a sacrifice you NEED to be willing to take!
 You make time to go grocery shopping,
you can make time to workout!
We’ve MADE the time…but how do you become motivated?
Sometimes that is just as difficult to find!
Jeff and I sat down with each other years ago and discussed our ‘health plan’!
We found commitment in EACH OTHER!
We knew that working out in a gym wasn’t going to work for our budget nor our schedule so we came up with a plan to make a CrossFit ‘inspired’ garage gym!
We knew we would need to motivate each other to get off of the couch and work out together.
Sometimes I want to duct tape his mouth shut…
or slap him…
but he does push me…and that’s something everyone needs!
NOW…what do I do to workout???
I mentioned above that Jeff and I put together a garage gym!
A CROSSFIT GARAGE GYM!
Yes, I’m a CrossFitter and although it may seem hard and intense, it really is designed so that ANYONE CAN DO IT!
Before I go any further, I must say this!!!
I have prepared some AMAZING at-home BEGINNERS CrossFit workouts BUT, if you are wanting to implement the Olympic lifting into your at-home regiment I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you go to a CrossFit gym for AT LEAST a month to learn the proper technique behind lifting!
I was a member of a CrossFit gym for over 3 years and I sometimes still mix up proper form!
None of my workouts involve Olympic lifting so you are safe…for now!
Get your booty some REAL training before you brake your back!
MMMMMKAY?
MOVING ON…
…let me tell you why I will FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER do CrossFit workouts!
CrossFit is a
CORE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROGRAM!
Meaning: it combines
ANAEROBIC {Strength}
 Weight Lifting
Sprints
Squats
Push-ups
and
AEROBIC {Conditioning}
Swimming
Running
Bike Riding
CROSSFIT WORKOUTS ARE DESIGNED TO GIVE YOU AN INCREASE IN:
 Power
Strength
Heart & Lung Endurance
Flexibility
Stamina
Coordination
Agility
Balance

The BEST part of this whole CROSSFIT thang?
…you can do it even if you are 80 years old!!
They is ALWAYS a way to modify the workout!
So…it’s going to constantly push you and it’s always going to be hard!

The hubs and I have read the CrossFit manual cover to cover and, with our experience and study, we have put together a week full of AT-HOME CROSSFIT WORKOUTS anyone can do!!!
 YES…it does require some equipment BUT you can collect and find all this equipment for under $50 dollars!!!
We know because we started our garage gym on $50 too!!
FIRST:
HAND WEIGHTS
(dumbbells or jugs of water, cans of food, heavy objects or small children!)
SECOND:
PULL UP BAR
THIRD:
STATIONARY BIKE, BICYCLE OR AIRDYNE
{we got ours from D.I. (thrift store) for $10!!!}
I see them there all the time…you just have to search!
FOURTH:
PVC PIPE
{I use these for my warm ups but you can use these to do some overhead squats instead of buying a barbell}
FIFTH:
JUMP ROPE
{if you are learning how to do double-unders, you want to make sure and buy a good exercise jump rope from ROGUE.COM}
Using all that simple equipment and these basic CrossFit AT-HOME workouts, you will be able to see how simple yet amazingly effective working out at home can be!!
THERE YOU HAVE IT!!
…and just because I am IN LOVE with this video…I thought I would share it with you all!!
Stay tuned for TOMORROWS post.
…tying it ALL TOGETHER!!!
 AND…
are you LOVING my workout attire!?!?!
I am posting an ALBION FIT giveaway tomorrow…get excited!
{p.s. I will be posting like a beast this week due to some exciting things coming your way!!}
Feel free to PIN all the images you wish!

    Great post, very helpful and informative,

    but, when explaining what to buy, at step 5 you say to but a jump rope at rogue, however the site you referenced leads directly to some beer/alcohol website..

    SOOO, I’m guessing that’s a mistake.

    Here is the actual website I believe you were referring to (FYI for anyone else interested)

    Thank you for real inspiration! I have a feeling that it might be the one that would push me toward my dream.
    After having my second baby I still didn’t feel real desire to take some action. Most of all I would like to be fit, to have power over my body. I like how I look, it is ok, …but I feel I have a potential to look and feel great! Thank you for inspiring to take action!

    You are truly inspiring. You write as if we were talking and I love that about your blog. I am new here and pretty much have the identical story my oldest is 3 and youngest is 2 and of course I have every excuse in the book. The one thing that I think is the hardest to have is an encouraging husband. I believe I can really do this like you and with you. Thank you so much for your blog

    Just wanted to start off by telling you that you have inspired me like no other workout blog has. Props to you for your healthy lifestyle in which I strive for! How long did it take for you to start noticing some positive change after having your second child? I’m really working hard to become comfortable in my own skin, just thought I would get an idea on how long it would take…

    Thank you for being so inspiring!

    Came across your blog on pinterest, and I’m so glad I did! I love your blog, love your body, and am so excited to build a gym at home and get started with your 6 week at home crossfire plan! Few questions….for your weights how many pounds do you use?? And I’m still trying to figure out your workouts, for day one it says 5-5-5-5-5. You explained the 1st two 5s but not the rest. (Or I just didn’t understand your explanation.) would you mind explaining it again?? Also, I’m not able to build a pull up bar, is there something else you would suggest I do instead??

    Thanks for taking the time to read and answer my questions!!!

I asked my hubby if he was okay with me clearing out half his tools for a crossfit gym & well…baby steps…lol! Keep up the great work!

    I listened to you talk at Pinners in 2014 and you were my motivation to lose 30 pounds of baby weight. A month after reaching my goal I found out we were having a little surprise so here I am again, getting inspired, but this time I only have 7 pounds to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, and then another 10 to get back to my pre-birth control weight. Thanks for sharing this story to help motivate people!
