On May 22, 2012 my husband and I welcomed our 2nd child into this world!
As a mother, you know what I mean when I say that day is one of the best days of my life.
After carrying a child for 9 months and going through the roller coaster that is pregnancy suddenly looking into that little babes eyes makes you forget all about it.
Every little cramp, waddle and pound means nothing and we all would do it a million times over if it meant that we get to hold that perfect angel in our arms.
I know I speak for all mothers out there when I say those ‘few extra pounds’ were worth it!
BUT…for some of us it isn’t just a few pounds!
No matter how healthy I ate…
or how much working out I did…
and after working hard, eating right and staying balance I got my body back.
I LOST 60 POUNDS in 8 MONTHS and I’m going to show you just how I did it!
(picture a cheesy infomercial with me standing next to Jillian Michaels)
Although Baylor was worth every pound gained I knew I wanted to lose every one of them!
If you are one of those lucky souls who gets to eat whatever their heart desires and only gains 20 pounds AND loses it within that first 6 weeks without even lifting a finger…
well then GOOD FOR YOU!! {this time I really am shouting capitals}
No, for reals though, I only hate you because I am extremely jelly and you should embrace that wonderful little body you got there! {insert ‘atta girl’ butt slap}
AS FOR THE REST OF US…who LITERALLY DO NOT lose a single pound without using some serious self-control…
{you can shed some tears on my shoulder}
This picture is the first picture I took the day AFTER having Baylor.
{I PROMISE there is NO BABY in there!}
AND these AWESOMELY HOT pictures were taken on MAY 24…the day I was discharged!
The FIRST thing I did even BEFORE I delivered was have a REASONABLE goal in mind for my weight lose.
I knew I wanted to have all my weight gone by the time little B was 9 months old!
I mean if it takes you 9 months to put it on…it should take you 9 months to take it off!
MY NUMBER ONE TIP for losing your baby weight…
You’ve just had another human being hanging out in your stomach for almost a whole year…there are bound to be some lose ends here and there that are going to take more then a 3 day cleanse to put them back where they belongs!
The way I lost my baby weight really isn’t rocket science…
it isn’t some miracle or hidden secret or undiscovered ‘next best thing’…
it took lots of sweat, dedication, hard work, disciple and dance parties!
It’s SIMPLE enough that busy moms can do it but hard enough that results will show quickly.
I worked out 4-5 times a week at my local CROSSFIT gym
I’ve explained crossfit before but for people that don’t know…
simply put CROSSFIT is…
constantly varied, functional movements, at a high intensity resulting in becoming my best physically and mentally.
Your workouts are planned for you every time you step into that gym…
you work on building LEAN muscle…
combining high intensity cardio workouts with simple weight lifting and mobility work.
A WOD or WORKOUT OF DAY would maybe be like
Snatch Pulls – 5 x 3 – Heavy  –  rest :60 sec
Double Unders – 5 x 35 – Rest 2:00 min
Power Snatch – 95/65

Does that make any sense?…maybe not YET but the great thing about Crossfit is the simple fact that it’s fool proof.
Go into a Crossfit gym and just PRETEND like you aren’t going to work your big booty off while busting out the same WOD 6 other people are doing!
It works because of 3 simple reasons
1. It’s something different everyday {HELLO MUSCLE CONFUSION}
2. It forces you to push yourself with scheduled WODs and some friendly competition
3. It can be modified for whatever stage of fitness you are at in your life

Some weeks I only made it to the gym once or not at all…
but I continued to keep my goal in view…
don’t worry I had plenty ‘IamsofatIhatemybodyIwillneverbeskinny’ crying sessions…but then I looked on Pinterest for some motivational workout quotes and I’m back to business!
Working your little BEHIND off in the gym will do NOTHING for you if you don’t focus just as much on your diet!
Weight lose is simple when you think about it this way…
if you burn more calories then you intake…you lose weight!
but I have to tell you a secret…
I never counted my calories!
My main focus was to start the day with a GOOD BREAKFAST
and continue the day eating small meals throughout the day.
MY DIET was centered around PALEO
Paleo diet centers around the idea that our bodies have not adapted sufficiently to eating foods that weren’t available to us 10,000 years ago. It is thought that more than 70% of food consumed today was never available in Paleolithic times.  We put so much processed food into our bodies; most of which is unhealthy.  The advances in agriculture and mass food production have caused us to move away from eating real food; food meant to work with our bodies for optimal health.
A Paleo diet involves eating meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, little starch, some fruit and no sugar.  It means no grains, legumes, dairy or alcohol.  It means staying away from all processed foods.
{source: google.com}
I eat more of a modified PALEO…
I like to live with the motto…
so I kept dairy in my diet.
BUT until then…
Here are my top 5 most important eating tips
1. ALWAYS eat breakfast (protein filled) this jump starts your metabolism for the day and can actually help you lose weight faster
2. NEVER eat after a certain time of night (8 was usually my cut off)
3. WATER, WATER, WATER (you can never have enough in my opinion)
you should be drinking around 2.5 liters a day!
Remember those mugs you were sent home with from having your baby…
drink three of those everyday and you will be GOLDEN
4. EAT CLEAN (stay away from processed foods)
5. REWARD YOURSELF (whether it’s a cheat day or a little something once a day…remember…everything in moderation!)
Coming from a person with a serious sweet tooth…you don’t want to go cold turkey and then revert back after a weekend binge!
{more on the food coming soon}
I sure hope these tips and tricks are helpful EVEN if you didn’t just have a baby but still want to lose weight or just be healthy!
{Don’t pay attention to my duck lips and no makeup faces in all the pictures…K?}
Now that my goals are accomplished I have set new goals and plan on continuing my fitness journey.
DID you notice the NEW BLOG DESIGN?
I EVEN ADDED A NEW PAGE on my blog specifically for my workouts!
If you look on the top right you will see a TAB titled W.O.D.
I will be posting all my workouts my gym has planned for that day!
It will be a fun place that I can post daily tips and tricks to specific WOD’s
I hope I can inspire and help all you little momma’s and beautiful women out there!
Our lives are a precious gift.
Let us not take that gift for granted.

  • Kalen

You look wonderful! Thanks for showing us your progress! I’m considering Crossfit once I’m done training for my half marathon, I love a girl with muscle! Keep it up!

    • Courtney

I love this post!!! My daughter is 5 months old and I’m struggling with losing the rest of the baby weight! I’m definitely going to be trying Crossfit with my hubby! Thank you for the inspiration

  • Meagan@Meagan Tells All

You look great! This reminded me to give myself a break and not to expect the weight to just melt off overnight (even though I wish it would!!>!!!)

  • Tara

I have been doing crossfit for a few years and love it! Question: were you breastfeeding during this? I just wonder if the paleo diet is best when breastfeeding? My baby is 7 months old and I need to lose weight!

    • Anna

I have breastfeed while doing a modified paleo diet. Like Sadie said everything in moderation. I would not do a full paleo diet while breastfedding becuaes your baby needs to be getting all the healthy food you can consume. Breastfeeding will jump start your weightloss for sure! Then you can start a workout routine once cleared by the doctor and you feel ready.

  • Thea

I love this! I just found your blog a few months ago but I really enjoy how REAL you are! I have tons of other blogs I read and it seems like they are all ‘too perfect!’ I am exactly the same way when it comes to how hard I have to work for one tiny tiny pound, and I am in the process of trying to re-shape my body! You look great! Keep up the awesome posts.

  • Kirsten Hymas

Well done Sadie!!! You look amazing (duh). So what’s your next goal?!

  • Kirsten Hymas

NOT implying that you need another goal (GEEEZ!) but I just reached a big goal and am looking at “what’s next!”, so that I don’t plateau. That’s what I meant!

  • McKenzie Guymon

Thanks for this awesome post! I just had a baby 2 months ago and was feeling rather fat still last night. I was hoping everything would just melt off me, but it hasn’t yet. haha I’m definitely needing to get on a workout routine. You my dear look freaken hot! Good for you! Not only did you lose the weight, you look toned and incredibly healthy. 🙂

  • Nickie

What a cute person you are – you have motivated me by looking at this!! (clean eating will be my down fall!!) you are so SWEET to comment how you are “jelly” when I have an awesome instagram pic!!! (large picture frame painted blue!) thank you and I enjoy your blog!!

  • Melissa

Thank you for posting this. I think you gave me that little push I needed to start my physical fitness journey. I have told my husband that I love the IDEAof running, but I hate to do it. I need to just get up and do it, and KEEP doing it. Thank you Sadie!

  • Brandi

Sadie what an inspiration you are! I loved reading every word of this post. You aren’t only completely adorable, but you are motivating. THANKS for sharing your journey with us. It really is something a lot of people strive to be. Wish I had the 8 months behind me and was 135 pounds of lean muscle. Where is the crossfit gym in Rigby? I can’t do it at this time, but would like to in time. I just started Turbo Fire, so we will see how successful I am with it. I have lost all of my baby weight from Cooper (3rd) but am still hanging on to some from my 5 and 7 year old. Anyway… THANKS for putting yourself out there. You look amazing. Be VERY proud of yourself!!!!

  • Reina

You look awesome!! Did you breastfeed? My baby is almost 6 months old and gained 46 pounds and have only lost 7 🙁 – I have been thinking of tryin paleo but have such a sweet tooth. Also did you run or what kinds of cardio did you do?

  • Lisa

    You look awesome!

  • Rae Haxby

Thank you for posting this. I am 190 lbs ( i think?) and I am working on dropping to 120, I am out in the middle of nowhere, with a treadmill and a set of 10 lbs weights. I have a 9 month goal time to reach that weight loss. I hope it is possible, but either way thank you for showing me it is possible to drop the weight!

  • Leslie

Love the new design and weight loss post.good job! Great inspiration for me while I am losing the baby weight

  • Thea

Ah! Totally forgot to ask my questions..

What does your cardio routine look like?

Any good recipes that your husband liked too? We live on a ranch so my husband is pretty ‘meat n potatoes’ I usually have to cook 2 meals every night one for him and one for me, Bleck!

As others already asked as well, were you breastfeeding?

    Thanks for the encouragement!!! :]

    You look awesome! Congrats!

i am so impressed! i am in the market to lose about 20 pounds BEFORE getting pregnant, and i am a full time RN working 3- 12’s a week… can you post sometime about what/how you eat and how you worked out with your schedule? that would be something i’d love to read:)

  • Quetha

Nice Job! Do you think you can post your cardio routine and I was also curious about your measurements?

  • Valerie

Can I say “Way to go Lady!” This is my first time reading your blog, but I feel like I have found my prego twin. I gave birth to my daughter December 4th 2012. She is my second baby, and just like her brother came with a huge weight gain. Despite following a modified paleo lifestyle and running the entire pregnancy I still gained 65 pounds (starting at 135- and getting to the dreaded 199.5 mark-ouch, I am also 5’5). But here I am 3 and 1/2 months post baby, and I am down 45 pounds. I loved your post. Thank you so much for sharing your pictures through out the journey. You have re-motivated me to keep up with my weights and running, as well as following Paleo. I loved this post. 8 months to goal weight – here I come.

  • mrsaliwear

Thank you for sharing your journey! So inspiring! I am a first time mom to a two month old little girl, I gained 35 lbs during my pregnancy and I have about 25 more lbs I want to loose to my goal weight right now. I am trying to be patient with myself but it is hard. You look amazing, and it was great to see another Mom who is fit and skinny like you and not 100 lbs. My goal weight is 130-135, and our measurements are actually very similar (from when I was that weight) so it was great to see that YES IT CAN bE DONE!! THANK YOU!!!! 🙂

  • Adrie

Thanks for sharing! How soon after you gave birth did you start doing Crossfit (or just working out in general if you led up to Crossfit). And do you remember at what stages you increased the intensity of your workout (I’ve been reading a lot of blogs about taking it really easy even up to 3 months post-delivery). I know every body is different and we should all listen to our bodies and our health care providers when undergoing any big changes – just wondering about your personal experience.

  • maria

the same thing happened to me! i ate extremely healthy and also gained 60lbs. normally eating healthy has helped me lose weight and keep it off, so i was shocked/mad that i gained so much.. i am almost 3months pp, and only 30lbs away from my pre pregnancy weight(clean eating). i had to have an emergency c section and my body has really suffered bc of it.. i’m trying to get into working out, and you’ve really insipired me and given me hope. i love this.
    thank you!

  • Cassy

You really are a great inspiration I have only read a little and can’t wait to read more! I had twin girls at 38 weeks.. That ended up weighing 6.14 & 7.8 so I can’t complain at all but they are a year old now. I can’t continue to say “just had” twins as my excuse to myself!!!! Thanks for creating this!!!

  • Vanessa

First, congratulations on your weight loss and self control. Impressive to say the least.

As for me, I’m 40 just had a C-section and am not able to exercise for ‘I don’t know how long’. I have two people in my home that love bread, pasta, processed foods and sweets. so…
Without making excuses, I often give in.

I just left the hospital 7 days ago. I could use your advice on what you think I can do till I can become more active. also, I’m forgetting that I got so big.
    from 135 to 199 lbs. ouch…

To boot, I’d like to have another baby ASAP before my time is up. However I have to loose before I gain again. Any words of advice?

  • Jessica Hernandez

I am SOOOO glad I found your website. I recently had my first baby(4 months ago). While I’ve lost the “#” of lbs I gained(which was only 20 because I was so extremely sick during pregnancy!)my body is completely different then before. I really needed to find your blog to help me get a jumpstart on feeling my best!

    Thank you so much!

    Jessica Hernandez

  • Amanda

Thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed to read. I had my baby 3 weeks ago and I’m ready to get this weight off.

Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is valuable and everything. Nevertheless think about if you added some great photos or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with images and video clips, this
blog could definitely be one of the greatest in its field.
    Terrific blog!

  • mckenzie

OMG you look great! im so jelly! You are my inspiration!!!

Those 30 minutes give the fluoride sufficient time to fight cavities by rebuilding weakened enamel.
It is recommended that a fighter should have 25 to 35 grams
of high fiber intake regularly. My Daughter made a really nice quilt
a couple years back during the winter months.

  • Jessica Thompson

I’m 23 weeks pregnant and I’m trying to plan my what my healthy life will look like after baby. I really appreciate this post. I’m going to save it and re-read it when I need inspiration or find me beating myself up about weight. Thank you for being raw and honest!!!

  • Misti McLeod

Thank you for posting the Crossfit at Home (with no equipment) workouts. My 4th baby is 5 months old & have found my time severely cut since #4 came along. With fun winter colds getting to the gym doesn’t happen as much as I’d like. This is exactly what I was looking for. I started Day 1 today & plan on following your workouts! My local Crossfit gym does not have childcare yet, so again, THANK YOU!

  • Veronica

Your story is so inspiring to me. I just started a blog to log my weight loss efforts BEFORE I try to have a baby so that I will go into the baby-making process as healthy as possible and don’t have to try to lose baby weight plus my extra weight post-baby.

  • Mikelle

I’ve been following you on Instagram for about six months and never really realized the fitness journey you’ve been through until I finally took a look at your blog. I have to say, I went from looking at you as a model/fitness guru to someone I can actually relate to. THANK YOU. I’ve done one round successfully of whole30 (four unsuccessfully) over the past year and I can’t really control my eating in between. When you eat Paleo, are you cutting all grains? Do you ever eat oatmeal? Any tips for someone who needs to stop looking at healthy eating in rounds, but as a lifestyle change?

    • sadie

I’m so so glad to hear that!! I am very relatable and struggle more than you know!! I strive to “EAT CLEAN” with moderation and balance. Lately I have added SOME whole grains into my diet but very little. I only allow myself maybe one a day IF THAT!! Just keep the “CLEAN EATING” mentality in your mind and it won’t be so overwhelming!! Keep it up girl!

  • Karalea

I’m so glad I found your blog! I’m 4 mo. postpartum with my 3rd child. I gained 50lbs while cross-fitting during pregnancy (gained 50lbs and 40lbs with my first and second, and didn’t work out at all). lol I went back to crossfit at 6 weeks pp, but the weight didn’t start to budge until I started eating Paleo (did W30 first). I’ve now lost 35lbs, with a goal to lose 60lbs total. I haven’t been able to workout as much these last few weeks and it is so discouraging. But, you give me hope and have inspired me to keep on going.

  • Rose Trinity

What’s your height? if you don’t mind me asking because my goal is also 135lb? I love reading your story.

    • sadie

HI! I am 5’4! Great goal! Keep it up!

  • Meagann

You are amazing girl!! Great read. Super effective motivation!! Thank you sooooo much for sharing your story without the weird “click here to buy X,Y,Z crap so I can string you out on my happy rabbit trail of making money off of you” LOL seriously awesome
I’m 23 weeks preggo and will be returning to your story again and again for this inspiration! BLESS YOU!!

  • Jane

This post inspired me to start lose weight, without this i still would be +20 pounds. I started every morning drinking this tea and it really helped me to stay focused
and keep going. I know this sounds like a something advertisement but i’m just saying that this helped me and if i can change even one life i’m happy.

I don’t think I got a week into it before I was writing random dumb blog posts about things I thought were funny like OVER PRICED CHERRIES or THE PORK ROAST FROM HELL.. When I became a Labor and Delivery Nurse, my blog became an outlet to write my feelings that I couldn’t understand. Feelings from difficult experiences.
